Faculty position in Vision Research at the Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
The department is expanding its research program and is seeking tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor level. We are specifically seeking candidates with expertise in visual system research. Ideally, the successful candidate’s research program will investigate eye-related diseases that complement existing strengths in vision research within the institution. The successful candidate will become a member of the James and Jean Culver Vision Discovery Institute, consisting of basic scientists and clinicians investigating a wide range of devastating blinding disorders. Augusta University, home to the only research-oriented, state supported medical school in Georgia, offers an outstanding interdisciplinary environment. The research infrastructure includes an NEI Center Core Grant for Vision Research (P30) plus state-of-the-art core facilities including Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Cell imaging, Flow & Mass Cytometry, Immune Monitoring, Integrated Genomics, Small Animal Imaging, and a Biorepository. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate a strong potential for research including obtaining extramural funding. The position offers a nationally competitive start-up package. Candidates must demonstrate strong research potential, including securing extramural funding, and will be expected to participate in teaching and service.
