Company History
Back in 1839, Mr. Julius William Braun opened his apothecary in Melsungen, Germany.
In the ensuing 166 years, the roots of this small B. Braun entity have grown into an incredible history of medical product breakthroughs, including:
* 1909 - the first sterile resorbable suture
*1929 - the first commercially prepared IV solution
* 1957 - the first plastic disposable syringe
* 1989 - the first needle-free IV system

U.S Facilities and Operations History -
B. Braun Medical Inc. began its operations in the USA in 1957. Initially, the company manufactured and sold disposable plastic syringes. During the 1980s and early 1990s, the company undertook several expansions and enlarged its product line of disposable medical devices. With the acquisition of McGaw, Inc. in 1997, including Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc. (CAPS®), B. Braun dramatically broadened its product lines and services to U.S. customers.
